How can cutting edge technology build your personal brand?
With over 180,000 attendees and 4,400 companies exhibiting, CES or Consumer Electronics Show, is one of the largest and most globally representative technology trade shows in the world. It’s the best place to find the type of tech that will fast forward any brand-building in a meaningful way.
There is an almost overwhelming amount of technology (both good and bad) at CES. Lon Seidman of Lon.TV, a top 10 tech channel on YouTube, has hand-picked five relatively inexpensive brand-building products from Pepcom at CES. “Pepcom is one-stop shopping for media covering CES. Rather than hunt down booths on the show floor, you can interact with over 100 major tech brands, directly” explains Seidman. At Pepcom, media can also see and interact more closely with tech products then on the very busy (and packed) CES show floor.
Here are five great practical products at CES 2019 that will help you create content and grow your brand in the new year.
1) Pelican Case 1150 With Foam – $40
When you are out creating content, the last worry you want to have is – will my phone and other equipment get damaged by water, dirt or other environmental bad guys. The very brightly-colored Pelican Cases come in many different sizes with removable pieces of foam that allow for customized cradling of your most precious items on-the-go.
As Seidman points out, “These are small cases that are waterproof, float and hold your phone and other things you don’t want to lose when you’re out in the field creating content. Also holds items like memory cards and hard drives.” All products featured are available directly through Amazon or the brand’s own site.
2) Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD (500GB) – $105.99
“Sandisk released these great super small solid state drives that are perfect for editing 4K video and are very rugged with less of a risk of losing data,” clarifies Seidman. Since solid state drives or SSDs have no moving mechanical components, they are the best choice for storing data or editing footage. And since this Sandisk version is so petitely-sized, you can easily put it in your smallest carrying case or purse for mobile content creation.
3) HP Chromebook 14 Laptop – $269
When looking for a new computer, many consumers and creators spend easily over $500 – $1000 each time. Here’s an alternative: “Chromebooks as a whole are a really interesting computing platform – generally inexpensive, you can bring then them to places where you might not want to bring your more expensive laptop. You can’t edit video but you can answer emails and do basic computing,” reviews Seidman. At only $269, this not-yet-released Chromebook is a great deal for a new portable laptop and you won’t have to skip your rent or mortgage payments to purchase.
4) Sandisk Extreme PRO UHS-II USB-C Card Reader – $20
Card readers are incredibly important as you create higher-quality content on nicer cameras than your mobile device. In fact, Seidman prefers these readers as they are: “Super cheap, new faster UHS-II card readers that work even with older devices. The advantage to using this reader with those cards, is that you can transfer photos and videos at a much faster rate to your USB-c equipped computer.”
While readers are not the first piece of technology that most consider in the content creation space, this small-and-mighty warrior will come in handy as you are leveling up your content game.
5) Speck GrabTab Cell Phone Holder And Stand – $9.95
If you’re just starting out in the content creation game, you will be creating content using your mobile device. “Having a good grip on your phone is good for not breaking the only camera you may have (the phone camera),” says Seidman. These cell phone attachments fold flat or pop out to create a stand for consuming content or looping around your hand to film vlogs and other personalized content. They come in a variety of colors to also create a statement piece around your personal brand. These Speck products rival the commonly-used PopSockets and another compelling selling point is they allow for wireless charging while PopSockets do not.
Here’s a review of more fascinating content-focused products from Lon.TV at CES 2019.
These five new (and very useful) tech products at CES 2019 will help level up your content creation game. When growing your brand, understanding what tools and how you can leverage them to effectively build your audience and community is an intelligent way to get ahead of the curve.
