At the Forbes CIO Summit at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay, the theme of the conference this year is The Digital CIO Takes Charge, as the CIO is now positioned to drive product, revenue and customer experience. At our conference you will see these trends personified.
I have been enormously encouraged by the number of CIOs who have taken digital responsibilities in part or completely for the enterprises they are a part of. As they do, they tend to get more involved in product development, as well. In the process, these grade A CIOs are getting more involved in driving revenue growth for their companies in addition to the traditional purview of CIOs of cost cutting.
We will hear from a number of leading lights who are shaping the technology landscape. Former Cisco CEO, John Chambers will join me on stage to talk about his career in addition to his current work as a venture capitalist.
We will recognize two tremendous leaders with our Forbes CIO Innovation Award: Rob Carter, the CIO of FedEx and Ed McLaughlin, the President of Technology and Operations at Mastercard. Each has driven revenue centric innovation on behalf of their companies. They will join a growing club of our winners who are leading the way to higher levels of value driven from the tech-chief role.
We will hear from two different CIOs who have developed products: Ashwin Ballal, the Medallia CIO and former GE and Coca-Cola CIO turned EVP of Operations and Technology at Bank of Montreal Jean-Michel Ares. Each of these leaders has developed products that they launched within their companies and now are at the point of marketing them to customers of the companies. Bank of Montreal has funded Jean-Michel’s start-up Choral. We will learn more about these “intrapreneurial” experiences from these two great leaders.
We will hear from two CIOs who have joined public company boards: Jody Davids of PepsiCo and Diana McKenzie of Workday. The former is on the board of the healthcare company, Premier, Inc., and the latter is on the board of MetLife. These extraordinary leaders will talk about the path to gaining board access together with advice for others to follow in their footsteps.
We will also hear discussions between venture capitalists like Navin Chaddha of Mayfield Fund and Sarah Guo of Greylock in conversation with CIOs – Shamim Mohammad of CarMax and Angela Yochem of Novant Health. Each conversation will highlight both the investor’s and the practitioner’s perspective on technology innovations and trends.
We will hear about security trends and tactics to counter bad actors from M.K. Palmore, the Head of FBI San Francisco Cyber Security Branch.
We will hear from thought leaders from BCG on Agile with a Purpose. We will hear from new RingCentral CIO on the path from digital immigrant CIO to digital native CIO. We will cover voice AI in the enterprise with Lorrissa Horton, the Vice President Team Collaboration Group at Cisco. We will cover quantum computing with leading expert Dave Rigetti. We will also hear from a number of leaders on fighting bias using artificial intelligence.
We hope you can join us for what is sure to be the premier gathering of CIOs and other technology thought leaders this year.
